Sustainable horticultural solutions
Innovation starts by understanding the specific greenhouse construction issues of growers and partners. Since the very early days, Alcomij has worked closely with stakeholders in a project to achieve efficient and sustainable horticultural solutions, all over the world.
Innovation is needed to achieve efficient and sustainable horticultural solutions.
Driven by quality and innovation
Its R&D and production department is constantly improving the product portfolio and modernising the production facilities for both steel and aluminium to ensure that the production capacity better reflects market needs.
Anything goes as far as innovation is concerned. In recent years, Alcomij has witnessed many and diverse working drawings by engineers. For example, cheese trolleys, stonemasons’ tables, folding Post trolleys, mobile bell pepper growing systems, folding containers, heliostats, clothing racks, prefab houses, photo frames, glass roof bars, carports, bicycle racks and arbours. We’ve seen literally everything come and go, but smart greenhouse horticulture solutions have always remained:

Start production of the first growing benches
With the introduction of automation within greenhouse horticulture, the need for a well and efficient arranged cultivation area increased. This together with the desire of higher productivity and the requirement to relieve labor. For that reason Alcomij developed and introduced the aluminum growing bench, a smart solution allowing to meet all growers’ requirements.

The first aluminium greenhouse roof system
When in the late 1960s the production of aluminum extrusion profiles came on a more industrial scale and thus became more affordable, growers and greenhouse constructions companies switched from wood to aluminum. Therewith, the first aluminum greenhouse roof system for conditioned cultivation was born.
