After years of preparation, we are pleased to announce that the construction of new industrial halls in ‘s-Gravenzande has started.

On 11 October 2024, the contract was officially signed by Peter Brugman (in the picture on the right in the foreground, Director Bedrijfsruimten Heembouw) and Marco Koese (on the left in the foreground, Director Alcomij), marking an important milestone in this project. Also in the picture are Marc Hilgersom (left, Commercial Manager Heembouw) and Gerard Hordijk (right, Purchasing Manager and project leader within Alcomij).

Why new production halls?

The current production facilities have had their day and no longer meet current safety and sustainability standards. With the new building, we not only want to create a safe working environment, but also further strengthen our position as market leader in greenhouse construction, for example by increasing efficiency with these production halls.

Sustainable future

The new industrial halls are designed with a sustainable future in mind. We aim for a building that is energy-efficient and has minimal impact on the environment. This fits seamlessly with our vision of sustainable food production.

Involving local residents

We find it important to involve our local residents in this project. That is why we organised an information meeting where we explained our plans. The reactions were largely positive. During the construction period, we will keep local residents regularly informed of progress.

Planning

Demolition of the old halls and construction of the new buildings are expected to take about a year. We will start in November 2024 and expect to occupy the new buildings in November 2025.

A new phase

With the construction of these new industrial halls, we are striking a new chapter in Alcomij’s history. We are looking forward to the future and the opportunities this new facility offers us to serve our customers even better.
